The wrath of God is being revealed...
Thoughts for Today:This verse is God's answer to those who say the Old Testament was about God's wrath while the New Testament is about God's love. Simply put: God is unchanging. God still hates sin -- then and now -- and God hasn't become any more lenient. The Gospel hasn't changed God's attitude toward sin. So what has changed? Christ died for us.
Not long ago, my daughter Amanda asked if I would help her build an obstacle course for our dog on our driveway. As we were gathering lumber, a splinter of wood became stuck deep in her hand. Using a pair of tweezers we tried to pull it out, but it broke off. She asked, "What should we do?" I answered, "We'll have to get a needle and cut it out." Trying to be brave she said, "I'll bet that's going to hurt." "That's right," I said.
God will not allow people to continue in sin any more than I would allow that splinter to stay in Amanda's hand. I wasn't going to say, "Well, I love you and I don't want to cause you any more pain or discomfort, so I won't do anything about it." No, just as I knew the splinter would soon become infected and therefore must come out, so too the wrath of God will deal with people who fail to embrace and allow the blood of Jesus to purify and remove the infection of their sin.
Questions to Ponder:Do you believe in God's wrath? Unfortunately there are a lot of people in the world today who do not. They believe they can continue on in sin and the God who is Love will also forgive. However, there is only one way to be forgiven our sin and that is with the blood of Jesus. Where do you stand? Covered by His blood, or with some alternative theory? On the day you appear before the Lord, when all foolishness is finally revealed, it will be too late to change your mind. Make a decision for Christ today or accept the wrath of God for all eternity.
