This will take place on the day when God will judge men's secrets through Jesus Christ, as my gospel declares.
Thoughts for Today:How would you like it if everyone knew exactly what you were thinking? Come on now, don't be sanctimonious -- be honest, no one is perfect, give it some real thought. Wouldn't it be awful? Every little criticism, insecurity, flash of anger, envy -- all would be out there for all to see and hear. It would sure force us all to clean up our thoughts and minds. Jesus told us these secret thoughts of man (and woman) are just as big of sin as the ones we act upon (Matthew 5:28): "But I tell you that anyone who looks at a woman lustfully has already committed adultery with her in his heart."
In our passage today Paul tells us, God will judge these secrets according to Jesus Christ's standard -- that statement alone should drive us in fear to our knees in repentance -- begging forgiveness from the Lord while thanking Him for His grace.
Questions to Ponder:Do you want the secrets of your heart brought out? Not the pleasantries and graciousness, but the dirty little thoughts that seem to come unhindered and unbidden into our minds. I look at these thoughts we all have as bondage -- if we don't ask for Jesus' help and forgiveness, over time they will make us feel guilty and unworthy. Have you admitted your secret thoughts before the Lord? Have you asked Jesus to wash your mind clean? Have you repented and asked forgiveness?
