But now a righteousness from God apart from law, which has been made know...
Thoughts for Today:Isaiah 64:6 says this about our own righteousness: "All of us have become like one who is unclean, and all our righteous acts are like filthy rags; we all shrivel up like a leaf, and like the wind our sins sweep us away." So if God considers our righteousness like a "filthy rag", then what is the righteousness Paul speaks about? It is a righteousness which God provides (1 Corinthians 1:30): "It is because of him that you are in Christ Jesus, who has become for us wisdom from God--that is, our righteousness, holiness and redemption." And 2 Corinthians 5:21: "God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God."
It is very important to understand God provides the righteousness -- it is not something you and I can do on our own. The righteousness God requires He also supplies. That gives me a great peace.
Questions to Ponder:Do you continue to toil in frustration trying to earn your salvation, to measure up, to be good enough, to be worthy of God's grace? Paul has good news for us -- we don't need to work anymore because: "God made him who had no sin to be sin for us, so that in him we might become the righteousness of God." We become the righteousness of God through our faith and belief in Jesus Christ. Will you trust Him today with your life?
