Do you wish to be enslaved by them all over again?
Thoughts for Today:Several years ago, I came to a crossroad related to my faith. It caused me to face the question: Who would I follow, God or man? This is a question that few people really want to answer directly. Why? Because as long as we avoid it, we can go about our lives in just the way we like. We can attend church and Bible studies, and still follow with great passion and enthusiasm all the latest trends in our society. I am sometimes shocked by how many Christians try to fit their faith into what the world represents as the current "politically correct" way of thinking.
The place to begin is always with the absolute truth of Scripture. It is by definition the unerring Word of God. Therefore, every new idea that society presents must first be viewed through the lens of Scripture -- not the other way around. It is the only way we will avoid being deceived by what the world says. Every "new idea" the world comes up with is not wrong. However, we need to be very careful that our desire for more money, possessions, power, better relationships, happiness, greater fulfillment and the like -- doesn't cause us to fall into the trap of slavery to those things (or people) that would place us in bondage.
Questions to Ponder:Today, far too many Christians looking for solutions to their problems follow after people, rather than the Lord. It's the same problem Paul encountered in Galatia. He's asking, "Do you really want to exchange one set of misguided and flawed philosophies for another? What's wrong in sticking with the singular truth of Jesus?" What is your answer? Is Jesus enough for you? For example, how would Dr. Phil's latest comments compare with a biblical perspective on the problem discussed? Which do you think will prove to be correct?
