I do not set aside the grace of God, for if righteousness could be gained through the law, Christ died for nothing!
Thoughts for Today:If a man was shot and killed while robbing a bank, do you think the police would arrest his bullet-ridden corpse? Would they read him his rights and offer access to an attorney? Of course not. Why? Because laws don't apply to dead people. So too, when Christ died for us, we died with Him. Death always brings an end to the Law. Its rules and regulations no longer apply to us because we are in Christ Jesus. (Romans 7:4: "You also died to the law through the body of Christ, that you might belong to another, to him who was raised from the dead, in order that we might bear fruit for God.")
However, there is a very important point to consider: If we choose to go back and live according to the law, Christ died for nothing. In Romans 10:4, Paul wrote: "Christ is the culmination of the law so that there may be righteousness for everyone who believes." Therefore, anyone who returns to living under the rules and regulations of the Law has set aside the Gospel of Grace.
Questions to Ponder:Is there any area of your life in which you are frustrating God's gift of grace? Are you adding to the work of the Cross? I pray that each of us would come to love the Father more each day as we grow in our understanding of His great love for us and the grace He has shown to us through His Son Jesus Christ.
