...it is not easily angered...
Thoughts for Today:The word "easily" does not appear in the original Greek manuscript. Therefore, Paul said, "AGAPE love [God's kind of love] is not angered." EROS (sexual or emotional love), PHILEO (brotherly love), and STORGI (affectionate love) can all be provoked or angered. But not AGAPE love.
A man I used to work with had some "temper issues". He had an amazingly short fuse. In the space of one conversation he could go from happy and charming, then a screaming, ranting lunatic -- all in less than five minutes. I thought he might have some sort of chemical imbalance. It turns out he had a spiritual imbalance.
Years later, I ran into him again. I couldn't believe he was the same person. Why? Because the difference in temperament was so striking. Contempt, anger, rudeness, and arrogance had been replaced with graciousness, kindness, humility and patience. You can probably guess what caused the change in his life. And it wasn't drugs, alcohol, therapy or prescription medication. The man told me about how his life had been turned right side up (it was previously upside down). It all began when God revealed His kind of love -- AGAPE -- through His son Jesus. Only His love has the power to transform us into His image.
Questions to Ponder:People with anger issues are not operating in God's kind of love. When we walk with Him in AGAPE love, we are easy to get along with -- long-tempered and long-suffering. Does that sound like you? Have you allowed God's kind of love to have a transformational impact upon your life? Will you?
