"Break the arm of the wicked man; call the evildoer to account for his wickedness that would not otherwise be found out". Psalm10:15
When I read this verse recently my mind immediately went to some articles that I have been reading about domestic violence and sexual abuse. The reason for this was the phrase "that would not…be found out", since secrecy is a major part of these crimes.
Here are some thoughts that came to my mind. First the Bible does have something to say about today's problems. The Bible may use different labels to the ones we use today but it nevertheless does speak to all problems. The Bible is relevant.
Second God sees what goes on in our homes and hears the lies that people tell themselves (v.11). Verses 2-11 give us a vivid description of "the wicked man" and this reminds us that sometimes people are able to fool others, but nothing is hidden from God.
Third God defends the oppressed (v.18) and helps the victim who "commits themselves to You" (v.14). This shows God's willingness to help but we must commit ourselves to God and his ways. As someone once said, "God mends lives, if we give him all the pieces".
Lastly with God there is always forgiveness available for the repentant offender.
